Borough Budgets $50K for Meadow Lakes Playground Equipment

posted May 20, 2011, 11:53 AM by Tim Swezey

Vern Halter informed us that the borough has budgeted $50,000 for playground equipment on the community center sports field.

Construction is starting in June and we should be able to install the equipment by the end of summer. The first installation will be playground equipment for children 2 to 5 years of age.

We are applying for matching funds for playground equipment for children 5 to 14 years of age from a variety for sources.

We are going to take pictures of the progress so keep watching this page for updates.

MSB Appropriation Request for Playground Equipment

posted May 12, 2011, 7:38 AM by Tim Swezey

We sent an email this morning to Vern Halter for a MSB appropriation request for playground equipment.

The borough has money available for community parks and Vern tagged $50,000 for Meadow Lakes. If we do receive this money it will dovetail with the grant request that we are writhing to the Mat Su Health Foundation, Rasmuson Foundation and Pepsi Corporation.

This weekend we will be getting videos of kids describing their perfect playground at the Block Party. We plan to combine the videos with a PowerPoint presentation and submit it to the Pepsi Corporation. Pepsi has awarded $50,000 to a school and a community center to purchase playground equipment.

With two funding sources and the other possible grant and donation requests that Mary Anderson is working on we should be able to complete both the 2 to 5 year olds and the 5 to 14 year olds playground sets before mid 2012.
